What Will You Be Doing At 10:00 AM Israel Time?

I don’t know what you will be doing at 10:00 am Israel time – but I know what I will be doing.

I’ll be standing and listening to the siren going off indicating a two minute time of silence to remember those killed during the Holocaust.

So will most of the population in Israel – including those whose job it is to make certain that another Holocaust never happens again.

I live in a place where what happened to the Jews during World War II is more than a chapter in a history book – it is both a personal story and a national one. And I also live in a place where preventing it from happening again is not just a personal wish but a national priority.

Can you say the same thing? No?

Then what are you doing there?

I actually think that the Internet has helped this particular remembrance, that people who aren’t necessarily Yiddin are becoming aware that there really was this thing we call the Holocaust, and they are appalled, and some of them paid attention on this day. And the Jews, no question, are waking up to it. It’s one thing we’ve got. That silly thing that unites us all. Hitler would have killed you, too, I can say to any Jew, anywhere, no matter your beliefs.
