The Likud primary results were published this morning, along with the inevitable spin from the media. The left wing media is trying to spin the list as if it is “too right wing” – but they do that after every primary vote. They are trying to “scare” away votes from the Likud to the so-called “central” parties in Israel.
The list is as follows. Keep in mind the final ranking will only be done after the Yisrael Beitenu party puts together their list. Presumably it will go two Likud, one Beitenu all the way down the line, but there may be changes. This is important to remember closer to the national elections, when watching the polls.
The links on each name are posts I wrote on each one, since they may not be well known to the English speaking public.
1. Bibi Netanyahu (automatically first on the list, was not in the primaries)
2. Gideon Saar
3. Gilad Erdan
4. Silvan Shalom
5. Yisrael Katz
6. Danny Danon
7. Reuven Rivlin
8. Moshe Ya’alon
9. Ze’ev Elkin
10. Yariv Levin
11. Yuli Edelstein
12. Haim Katz
13. Tzipi Hotobeli (as the highest ranking woman on the list, she may be moved up to the top ten)
14. Miri Regev
15. Moshe Feiglin
16. Yuval Steinitz
17. Tzachi Hanegbi
18. Limor Livnat
19. Ophir Akunis
20. Gila Gamliel
The only person on this top twenty list which I do not approve of is Tzachi HaNegbi, who was a Likud member and left to join Kadima when it suited him, and has now come back. I am frankly surprised that Miri Regev did so well (not that I disapprove, though).
