The south of Israel was under attack again the last few days. 79 rockets were fired at various points, and an Israeli commander was wounded by a bomb near the Gaza Israel border. Now Hamas has supposedly called for a cease fire, and the communities around Gaza have announced that school will open as usual today.
Of course, since we are heading into election time here in Israel, the security situation has an influence. Israelis vote about two major issues – security and economic ones. When we are under threat the voters think of security. When things are calm the voters attention goes to economic issues. Things will change quite a bit before the elections in January, but it will be interesting to see how it plays out this time around.
